Studying Online For A Bachelor’s Degree
Many jobs nowadays require some sort of a degree. Most often, it is a bachelor’s degree that is desired. For many adults that do not have that extended education, they find that the employment market is less friendly. I found myself in that situation a few years ago. My current job prefers that we have a degree but they were desperate for applicants and took my years of experience in place of a degree. Since then, I have done some research on continuing my education and turning my associate’s degree into a bachelor’s degree. However, I work full-time to make ends meet and am raising a child. I have no time whatsoever to be going back to college and sitting through classes. I discovered that there were many ways to earn my bachelor degree online. In fact, more and more colleges are offering not only a bachelor degree online but many other degrees and certificates. This information definitely peaked my interest. Getting my bachelor degree online was ideal for me as I could move at my own pace and do my studies whenever it suited me. I didn’t have to worry about attending classes or going on campus.
My main concern was finding an accredited bachelor degree online program that was affordable and right for me. My concerns were alleviated quickly when I saw how many online colleges are out there and begging for students to complete their bachelor degree online. I took it upon myself to get as much information as possible. I quickly discovered that each college was eager to call me and encourage me to sign up for their programs immediately. I was a bit annoyed by that simply because I was still in my information gathering stages. I had narrowed down my interests and was trying to decide what the best major was for me. I was interested in pursuing criminal justice and discovered that many colleges offered that bachelor degree online. Some of the criminal justice bachelor degrees online had broken down the major into certain areas of specialty. I was more than interested.
Though all of the online colleges I inquired about would allow me to apply for financial aid, it would not be cheap to get my bachelor degree online. To finish my degree in two years would cost me approximately $25,000 with transferring in my associate’s degree. Granted, this is the normal cost of two years of college for a regular institution. If I did not have the amount of debt that I presently have, I would have had no problem committing to getting my bachelor degree online. However, it may be the only way possible for me to advance in my education but the costs are holding me back. I am determined however, that someday I will get my bachelor degree online. After that, look out world!
