Blocking Unwanted Pop Ups
If you have been on the Internet recently then you have undoubtedly noticed the amount of pop up ads out there. Much like junk e-mail, unwanted pop up ads are very annoying and clicking on some of them can be hazardous to the health of your computer. It is important to have a good security system in place on your computer to protect your machine from hackers, viruses, and spy ware.
If you use the Internet regularly, having a pop up blocker is a must. You can download a good pop up blocker from many web sites on the Internet. I prefer the pop up blocker that is provided by Internet Explorer. You can find the Internet Explorer pop up blocker by clicking on the tools tab at the top of your browser screen. This feature blocks all pop up ads and I had never had a problem with it. You can adjust the settings however you wish if you want to allow certain ads to show up on your screen.
Sometimes having your pop up blocker turned on will cause some problems. If you are trying to download a program onto your computer a new screen usually pops up to prompt you on how to complete the downloading process. If your pop up blocker is turned on, you may have to turn it off so that the necessary windows will show up on your computer screen. Internet Explorer’s pop up blocker will alert you every time it blocks a pop up so that you will be aware if something you want to come through cannot.
Surfing the web requires good navigation skills these days. There is a great deal of junk out there and without a decent pop up blocker you will be inundated with ads and small windows. These pop ups can be very annoying and will ultimately slow down your progress while on the Internet. I strongly suggest that any Internet surfer downloads a good piece of blocking software to help their surfing go more smoothly.
It is important that any software you download to your computer, including a pop up blocker, comes from a reliable and secure source. Be very wary of ads or web sites advertising such software if you do not know for sure that they are coming from a source with a good reputation. Check up on consumer reports and user comments when shopping for pop up blocker software so that you can be sure you are not jeopardizing your computer.
